Kit List – What you should take on the hill

There is a basic set of kit that I would recommend anyone take on the mountain with them, whether going out for a few hours or a few days.

One Day

Here is a list of kit you should carry for a day out:

  • Rucksack
  • Emergency Bivvy Bag
  • Waterproof Jacket
  • Waterproof Trousers
  • Map
  • Compass
  • Torch + spare battery
  • Walking Boots
  • Drink
  • Food
  • Whistle

  • Phone
  • Spare warm Layer
  • Emergency food
  • Personal First Aid Kit

Optional extras:

  • Sun cream

  • Flask of hot drink

Multi-Day

If you are going out for more than one day, then you will need some extra kit either on you or between your group.

  • Sleeping Mat
  • Sleeping Bag
  • Tent
  • Stove/pans
  • Spoon/knife/fork
  • Spare clothes
  • Spare Socks
  • Water filter/purifiers
  • Lighter and Matches

There may be other things you wish to take, but use this as a guideline to base your kit from.
